Can get new 4155 for $349... still worth it?
Good afternoon.

I can get a new, in box, 4155 from a local retailer for $349. With all the new devices out there, is this still a decent deal?? Or should I be putting my money elsewhere?

Thanks.

Thats something you should decide because if I am not mistaken, I think that only has a SD slot and many like SD and CF. Also, with the new VGA devices, I mean for $500 (not a ton more), you could get the Dell x50v with dual slots and vga. I wouldn't recommend the Dell, but it just puts it into perspective. Obviously, you are paying for the small size.

If you want a powerful PPC that still runs with big boys and one that you can actually "put into your pocket" and forget that it's there then the 4150 is for you.

The need for CF really is diminished if you consider that the 4150 has both BT and WiFi built in, leaving the SD slot for whatever you need it for.

The only downside is that WM2003SE is not available for the device. You really need to weigh the pros of SE and determine if what it offers really makes a difference in your day-to-day usuage of the device.

For myself I much rather have a powerful device that I can put into a shirt pocket, slacks or jeans pocket and not feel "bogged down". It makes it me just want to carry my PPC in more cases than some with larger devices.

So far not one of the new PPC's offered (the Asus a730 comes real close in form and function but not price) in matching the 4150's balance of power and convenience.

Personally I still think the iPAQ 4150 is still an excellent device. It fits in the pocket, has sufficient power and with a 1GB SD card has enough storage for most needs.

I haven't really missed upgrade, for landscape mode I've been using dotPocket and the media player programs let you switch from portrait to landscape with no problem (or having to do a soft reset).

OK, call me biased, but I still like the styling and feel of the controls of the 4150 much more than the new models. With an extra battery (they're small) the usefulness before recharge is greatly extended.
