Mobile Favorites suddenly won't synch
I have a question about a problem which just appeared. I synch my Ipaq 4155 to my Fujitsu Lifebook P5020, normally via Bluetooth but also via USB. I have always selected the following 4 items for ActiveSync - Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, and Mobile Favorites.

Two days ago, I found that ActiveSynch would start, find the unresolved items, and immediately minimize when it reached the Mobile Favorites portion. Mousing over the ActivesSync icon in the system tray gives a message that ActiveSync is "checking," but no items are ever resolved. I can explore the 4155 from the PC, so the connection is fine, but ActiveSync never completes. If I re-open ActiveSync, then it simply re-starts this process without resolution.

I un-checked mobile Favorites from the list of items to synch via Activesync, and everything works again as it did before. If I re-check Mobile Favorites, it fails again.

Other details:
PC operating system is XP Pro SP2.
I get the same behavior when connected via USB and ActiveSync.
I used the System Restore option to roll my PC back to an earlier date when I know this feature worked, but it did not change the behavior.

Sorry for the length of this message. Thanks for reading this, and for any advice you may have.
Don

How many mobile favorites do you have - it may be running out of memory to save them in

Another suggestion is to delete the partnership (when not plugged into the cradle) open ActiveSync and go to File Delete partnership and then reconnect your ipaq to the cradle and creat a new partnership.

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the suggestions, Rob. I have only a few Mobile Favorites, and they ahve not changed recently, but maybe other things are taking more memory. I'll try deleting a few and see if that helps.

Actually, the only reason I started synching Mobile Favorites long ago was to provide a way to enter some new ones manually. I was hitting a server which automatically directed my Ipaq into a session and updating the URL. Saving that new URL in the Favorites was not an option, as the session would time out and the URL would become invalid. I could not figure a way to edit or manually enter the URL into a favorites list in Pocket IE, so I did it on my PC and synched it in. Maybe there is a better way.

Thanks again,
Don

Do you want the pages available offline? as that is what Sync'g your favourites does?

If not I would just deselct the sync'g of them and reintroduce it each time that I needed to add a favourite

The problem was a little different for me. We have a network management service running on a server at work, and there is a Pocket PC optimized page available on that server. If I opened Pocket IE and entered the page, it would be http://www.companyname.com/network/mobile. However, when the page loaded, the URL would now be redirected something like http://www.companyname.com/network(?=acebn47893nf)/mobile/hjk.asx or some such. It was explained to me that a session was started when I hit this page, and that this session would eventually time out. Therefore, the new address shown as the URL in Pocket IE should not be stored as the address for the shortcut or favorite. However, the Ipaq software would not let me manually enter the address I wanted for the favorite, nor would it let me edit it. I could only add the address of the page I was currently on, which contained the redirected URL for the session. To get around this, I entered the correct URL address (without session info) into IE on my PC, which <did> allow me to enter and edit as I pleased. Syncing this in mobile favorites moved it to my Ipaq successfully.

Again, there may be a better way - I just couldn't find it. I don't care about viewing content offline, just getting the correct (not the redirected) URL. Thanks again, Don
