4155 or 4705 - Still Undecided
I currently have a HP 2215 and I'm thinking of upgrading to a 4155 or 4705 and can't decide.

I like the form factor of the 4155 but I understand that it is being discontinued and has 2003 Windows with no upgrade opportunities.

Then there's the 4705 which has the faster processor and Windows 2003 SE but I really don't like the form factor of it.

I use SENA cases and I see they are backordered for the 4705 (Black/Red).

What should I do? Get a discontinued 4155 which I like, or go with the new 4705 and learn to love it's form and get a case when they're available?

The 4155 will perform similar to the 2215 I have now but will have the built in WiFi which I must have. So there won't be much of an advantage with the 4155 except for this. But again, I like the form.

Hope someone can help me decide which way to go........

Remember that with the 4155 you will lose the CF slot.

True - I never use the CF slot anyway - just the SD slot.

The 4705 was the first PDA I ever owned that had a CF slot and I love using it. Just got a Lexar 1GB 4x CF card for $50.00 and I love having 2GB on board. To get back to your original question. Check out the Dell X50v not as small as the 4150 but than again nothing really is.

I want to stick with HP. I've never used cf so I guess I don't know what I'm missing.

Is the flip lid on the 4705 bothersome? Is it removable?

So would you recommend the 4705 over the 4155?
Do you use a case on the 4705?

I use a boxwave skin for my case and I love it. www.the-gadgeteer.com just posted a very thorough review on it. The one negative is that the case does attract lint but for me there is nothing sharper looking. If size is an issue I would jump on the 4155, IMHO there is no better looking PDA out right now. They are very different PDA's so it depends on which you would prefer more. Are there any stores by you that carry both so you can do a side by side?

I have the 4155, and the form factor is a huge plus for me. It is small enough to fit COMFORTABLY in my shirt or pants pocket without being obtrusive. Therefore, I always have it with me. If it were any larger, I would not want to carry it everywhere. A faster processor and higher-resolution screen <might> be nice, but in truth I have no compelling need of those things. If my Pocket PC had them and yet it was back in my briefcase, then they would hardly be an improvement.

Of course, these opinions are mine alone and I am sure others may feel just the opposite. FWIW . . .

Like Don Davis said even though the 4155 is and older PDA it is by no means subpar.
These are the major things you will miss out on.

Faster Processor (400 vs 624)
Screen (320x240-640x480)
WM2003SE
NO CF Card(You don't use anyway)

I have a 4350 which is similar to the 4150 but with a thumboard and larger battery. Even though I have the 4705 the 4350 is still my primary PDA. You should be able to get a great deal on a 4155 also.

Form factor, the way I understand it, is just the physical shape, asthetics, layout of buttons, etc.........

Overall appearance.

Received my 4705 last Friday and all I can say is - BRILLIANT. What a screen! I was so concerned about the size - referred to as a Bohemeth - but I really like this PDA. When placed by my 2215 there's just no comparison about screen resolution and brightness. Touchpad will take some getting used to. Anyhow, thought I'd let you know. Of course still waiting on HP BT headphones!
