HP 4150 Flash Language (French to English)
Hey everyone.

I was just wondering if anyone would be able to point me to instructions on how to change the language on my Ipaq from French to English.

Thanks in advance

hippak,

Welcome to this superb website and forum.

The instruction below tell you how to backup the image of 4150, using the command "r2sd" (ROM 2 SD).
http://www.geocities.com/ipaq41xx/

But if you have the English ROM on an SD card (honestly I don't know what format that has to be in), you might be able to use "sd2r" to change the language to English, providing you edit the English ROM to fake as "French".

In order to change the ROM language, there has already been many post on this forum.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply paul. This really is a great website.

I found another post but its for a different unit. It involves using a hex editor and doesn't require an SD card. I dont have an SD card as of right now. Is flashing the same regardless of model number?

Just found the post. And the instructions are by you lol

would what you outlined here work on my 4150?

thanks!

Hi all..

I would like to change my German 4150 to English. Any ideas where I can get the English OS version from?

I believe from my experience on changing the language (English to Chinese) on my 3970. It should be the same procedure to use to change your 4150 from French to English, following the thread 7694. The logic should stay.

That's why I suggest that you should also download the French version of the ROM as well, as a backup. Should the procedure failed, you can always restore it back to the French language.

http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/fi...oad/21908.html

Please download both the French and English ROM before performing the language change.

Good luck.
