Firware upgrade then restore...
I ran a backup (SD card) and then upgraded my firmware from 1.00 to 1.10. I then ran the restore - but I couldn't get any of the WiFi to work. After several hours of troubleshooting, I did a hard reset of the device (losing the previous restore) and the WiFi worked right out of the box. Can I not restore from a previous firmware version?

Thanks...

Rule of thumb: (Most) firmware requires you to reinstall your applications over again rather than doing a full restore. Doing a full restore may cause conflicts with what you just updated. However, it is possible to restore your data (ie. My Documents).

There is no guarantee a restore will work 100% correctly after upgrading the firmware.

As i'm sure you are aware firmware updates are usually to either fix bugs in the opsys or provide added functionality to the system or a combination of the two.

Some of the fixes or additional features may result in parts of the system changing e.g. program files, registry entries, dir structure etc... as a result you may experience some incompatibility issues when you restore your backup due to the restore overwriting some of the new settings.

From experience the best thing to do is start with a clean system, reload all of your apps and reconfigure the device from scratch, then once you are happy it is all working as expected take a backup.

Do you know if one can revert to previous firmware, 1.00, run the restore, then upgrade the firmware?

That won't do any good. Updating the firmware will require a hard-reset. So either way, you have to start from scratch.
