Those are HP/Compaq's naming scheme in their marketting channels. There is absolutely no difference in these or in 1910/1915, 2210/2215 etc etc..

I actually placed an order for the 5550 and the very next day I saw the 5555 was available. I was pretty upset thinking that I finally made the decision to purchase the 5550 and now a new model was out. The 5555 was listed on the various sites for purchase, but I could not find anything on the hp site. To my surprise, when my iPaq arrived it was the 5555. The box just said 5500 Series, but when I checked the information within the Asset Viewer, it is listed as model hp iPaq h5555 and the processor type is Intel PXA255.

To finally answer your question, I could not find any difference between the two.

There's absolutely no difference. I think the 5550 is sold directly from HP and the 5555 is sold at retailers. Otherwise, their exactly the same.

I agree that there seems to be no difference, but at BuyDig (http://www2.buydig.com/shop/searchre...=2089&pti=1080), they have both iPaqs listed. The 5550 is $538.00 and the 5555 is $649.00. Go figure.

I heard that the h5555 is a USA model and the h5550 is a European model.

There should be no difference.

Actually h5550 is sold to companies in bulk and h5555 is sold in idividual packages. They are the same.

Here's another:

5550 vs. 5555 Series Models:
They're the same. HP uses two different numbers: one for corporate channel sales (5550) and 5555 for retail sales channels. There may be some small variations in software bundles, but most all bonus 3rd party apps should be the same.

Found this at http://www.pdabuyersguide.com/ipaq5555.htm
