Lost connection with 5450
I recently bought a new laptop, set up a connection with my 5450, and life was good!

For the past three days, I have now been unable to synchronise the two, as my laptop can now not find the 5450. When I push in the USB cable to the laptop, it comes up with a message that a USB device has been found and I should insert the CD that came with the device. Not having seen that message before, I am at a loss to know what to do.

What has happened that it should just stop connecting?

I hope that someone can help me.

I have the same model. The cradle that came with mine worked a couple of times when I used the usb cable, then I had the same problem you do. I started using the serial cable and it has worked fine since. I bought a second cradle for my work computer. The USB cable on it works great.

Try using the serial cable to see if it will work.

Also, make sure that you're using the latest version of ActiveSync. I had the exact same problem for months. I had to use the serial connection to sync, but I was unhappy with the performance. The latest version of ActiveSync has cured whatever the problemwas and now the USB connection works just fine.

I agree, make sure that you are running the latest version of Activesync. To add to that, if you are using a USB hub with your cradle, don't. USB hubs are prone to cause weird problems with Activesync. Install your USB drivers for your PPC, use Activesync 3.7.1 and don't use a USB hub. That should fix things up for you.

Thanks for the handy hints - I'll try them tonight when I calm down.

Cheers from downunder.
