555 Volume control wont turn off
OK - I'm somewhat computer savvy and finaly bought an IPAQ 5555 about 1 month ago (comp usa).

Love the thing.

ABout a week ago now most of the time when I start to do something on it the volume control 'slider' bar come up on the screen, shows the volume and moves from low to high and keeps 'trying to go up'. It also beeps at me. It is as if I was holding the volume up rocker on the side of the IPAQ and would not let go.

The volume 'app' on the IPAQ will not close and I can go to other screens but then it pops up again (again as if I am holding the hard button volume up button down).

I have tried a reset with the stlyus ( many times).

I have tried removing the battery, waiting and putting it back - no good.

Of course I did not get the extended warrenty comp usa tried to sell me (at least 3 times).

Should I hard reset? If so will I lose the app I have bought and installed?

Call HP?

Try to return it?

Please help....

Thank you

Frank

From what you describe, it does sound like the volume button is stuck or at least it thinks it is.

I don't remember how long you can return things to Compusa, 1 month is probably too long? But I would think it is still under HP warranty. This is my guess without getting out stuff from both places to see.

You can try doing a hard reset, though you will lose any apps and data. If it's possible to run the IPAQ Backup first to a card, I would do that. Then you can restore your stuff after the hard reset. If the hard reset does not fix it, the backup on the card will get you going again after your machine is repaired/replaced.

Good luck!
