Ipaq 4150 Vs 5550
I'm interesed to find peoples reaction to the above e.g.

If price is not an issue and you had a choice of of either owning an ipaq 4150 or a ipaq 5550 which would you choose and why?

I found a couple of nice reviews (amongst others) here

http://www.pdagold.com/articles/detail.asp?a=123 <-4150
http://www.ipaqhq.com/reviews/index....mostrecent=yes <-5550

But I'm still having a tuff time making up my mind!

For me it would be (and it was as I had the 5455 at one time) the 4155. I wanted the smaller form factor. Sleeves were not something I needed or wanted. I did not need or want the fingerprint scanner. Lastly, one of the issues that seems to have carried over from the 5455 I did not want to deal with, namely possibly having to remove the battery to fix a WiFi problem.

If they were both the same price or even if the 5555 was cheaper, I would still buy the 4155.

It is, however, a personal choice based upon individual needs. For some, their opinion would be completely opposite of mine.

Unless you use wifi regularly, it seems the 2200 series is a more flexible device. Also even if you use wifi, the possibility to upgrade to one of the faster standards exists, if someone makes the cards and drivers.

Doesn't the 5555 also have twice as much memory? That could be an important consideration, but I prefer the size of the 4100s and 2200s.

I chose the 4150 - better price and size, IMHO.

However, I've only had it less than a week and am already planning to purchase a 256MB (or maybe 128MB) memory card tomorrow!

I guess that since I am not planning on purchasing a 64MB memory card (which would have then matched the 5555 for memory) - I would probably be purchasing additional memory even if I had the 128MB of memory that the 5555 has... although having 128MB initially would have meant I would have been able to delay the memory card purchase by a few weeks!

The 5555 also has a very slightly larger screen, if you can tell the difference between 3.5" to 3.8" .

(I also looked at the Dell Axim X3i, which does not have bluetooth built-in.)

I am very pleased with my 4150 purchase!

If you say "If price is not an issue.." why would you wanna go for a machine lower down than the 5550, I have one I use it with wifi at home had no probs with wifi issues, it even picks up hotspots as I walk round town and that is something when you live in the sticks, I use the bluetooth to sync nicely with my Mac at work so overall its a very nice machine and I'm glad I didn't go for the cheeper version. If I had maybe I would be wishing now that I have got the best I could afford at the time. ;-)
