I've just upgraded from a WinCE2.0 device to an H5550. In my CE2.0 device, the internal backup battery was a lithium button battery that was replaceable. In the H5550, it appears that the backup battery is non-user replaceable. The manual states that the internal backup battery will last for 10 minutes, if need be.

My question is: Is the internal backup battery on the H5550 rechargable and does it recharge automatically? I'd hate to have to send the unit back to HP for backup battery replacement if I mistakenly left the main battery our for more than 10 minutes.

Yes it is. The internal battery recharges as you recharge your PPC. This the same way with the 2215 and most of the other iPaqs that has been released in 2003.
