5550 Vs. 5555

Yes, the 5555 comes with Resco Explorer, a great file explorer. Why HP thinks business users won't need it is beyond me, but only the consumer version includes it.

If the prices are close and you don't have Resco Explorer, go with the 5555.

Steve

P.S. If you want to know more about Resco Explorer, you can read my review.

thanks a tech at hp (via web chat help) said / wrote strongly they were identical; he even gave me his email/phone# to followup; I have to say that in my short time as a member of these forums/site, I am utterly stunned at the level and breadth of talent here, just hope I can help out too! Yes, there is a lot of good talent here. Also with 13+ years of UNIX experience I think we talk the same language!

Good to know much about this.

But according to me the main diffrence is
5550- Globally Available iPAQ.
5555- US retail only.

Just A Number
The only difference between the 2 is identifying if it was purchased through HP or Retail.

So are you saying that the 5555 does not come with Resco Explorer, or that the 5550 does come with it? As I said, the 5555 comes with it, while the 5550 does not. That's a difference, even though the hardware is the same. It is not "just a number".

AS per HP naming conventions all models XX50 series and XX55 series,eg (4350/4355,5150/5155,5550/5555,3950/3955 etc) are only because
1) 50series- Globally available models (including US)
2) 55series- availble in US only.
and because 55series has resco file browser.
But any one wants any info for file explorer see
http://www.vieka.com/ this is the explorer which overwrites windows explorer or pocket explorer.
what Pony99CA has said that only distinguish between 55XX series, but this does not implies for other series of iPAQs.
