I have the same access point and have no trouble syncing with my 2215 or Axim X5 wirelessly. The IEEE 802.1X Network Access Control should not be an issue unless you are running the WinXP built-in firewall. In my opinion, having a firewall on the PC is unnecessary when you are behind a router on broadband, so I would disable it and any other firewalls on the PC. Check the wireless sync section on the WiFi How-to linked from my signature for more details.
Besides disabling any firewalls, things in particular you should be aware of include setting all network settings to “Work,” change the name of your PPC (M$ networks do not like underscore or most other non-alphanumeric characters), and you must have synced via cable/cradle/IR prior to attempting wireless. Once you are successful, I strongly recommend add all the security possible on the access point (MAC-filtering, 128-bit WEP) and if you want a firewall on the PC, then you will need to open the necessary ports for ActiveSync (discussed in the How-to).
