Is there a patch or software for me to use my iPaq with my Mac at home?

You'll want to use Missing Sync for the PPC.

Missing Sync

choice
You have 2 options:

"PocketMac" (www.pocketmac.net) and "Missing Sync" (www.markspace.com).

Pocket Mac supports Entourage but is less "refined", missing sync is a cleaner app but only syncs addressbook and ical. Both work with bluetooth. If your mac doesn't have bluetooth buy the D-Link usb bluetooth adapter from the apple store (it works on the passive usb port on your keyboard).

All together we're talking about a EUR 80,00 investment.

If you find any other options please post them here.

Kermit

iPaq 5550 + bluetooth GPS
Nokia 6230
Apple G4 Desktop
HP NX7000 laptop

it works
actually got the ipaq to sync with both my pc at work (win98 via usb cradle) and my apple g4 at home (OS 10.3 via bluetooth (D-LINK) and pocketmac).

both the sync at work (outlook) and at home (entourage) work perfectly, all appointments/tasks/contacts survived. The bluetooth at home took some time but it turned out i had not read the manual carefully enough (always initiate the sync from the apple).

my trip from work was extra exciting since i also installed the TOMTOM bluetooth navigator today, operation is not very user friendly (i am used to a built-in Volvo navigator which works much more intuitively), but it works and the 3D looks really cool.

bluetooth connections seem to be a bit sluggish off the mark and the GPS module seems to be very sensitive to cloudy skies.

i'll keep you posted, as soon as i get my nokia 6230 back i'll see if i can get that running (especially the contacts will be crucial).

greetz,

kermit
