If I understand correctly, you are installing some of the software to a storage card? If this is the case, a couple of things come to mind:

- Are any of the programs installed to the storage card set to automatically start up or are Today plugins? My understanding is that it is not a good idea to install such software to a storage card because there maybe a slight delay at startup while the OS initializes the card. (Programs that startup automatically have a shortcut in \Windows\Startup)

- You may want to check the card for errors.
PC: You could use a card reader. You can check the card for errors using Scan Disk or Disk Check (which one depends on the OS).
PPC: You could use a program such as Pocket Mechanic or Storage Tools to scan for errors. Both have trial versions. Of the two, I am more familiar with and prefer Pocket Mechanic, it does a lot more.

I hope that this helps.

If I understand from your correction it soft reset and not hard reset.

A few things I can see.

- Worst case you have a faulty unit, but before concluding that.

- Install your apps one at a time. Some apps require a soft reset to complete the installation.

- Just for the fun of it I would either install to a different card (card might be faulty) or install all of them to default location (in memory). I know I prefer to install what I can on a card, but go with device memory just to eliminate possibilities.

- Make sure you have all patches install in default location. Might be a SDIO issue, although never had one myself.

- Active sync might be a source too. I get an error message on one dock out of four. Bad Microsoft bad!

Good luck!

My 5450 has hard twice in 4 weeks, and it's killing me! It has lost the ability to synchronise Outlook as well. The hard reset and re-establishing the relationship has not fixed the Outlook problem. It's now become just a meeting note taker and mp3 player for me - can't trust it any more.
