iPAQ H5555 appears to be totally dead

As a side job I work for a guy at our church repairing printers, DVD rental machines and things like that. His 12 year old son has an old iPAQ H5555 that won't power on so I offered to take it home and check it out.

I have the original cradle, original battery, original power supply, and an extra off-brand battery (New in package).

The unit appears to be totally dead. No lights in the cradle with either batteries. I've tried a couple of hard resets, no go. Could the fingerprint scanner be locking it in?

I had a similar problem with my H5555. I managed to revive it without battery replacement.

First. Try several hard resets. If it does not work:

Next: remove the battery for a couple of hours and then reinsert the battery and connect a power supply.

Next: If none of this works then the power supply may be suspect. I suggest that you take it to a retail shop and try connecting using a USB to IPAQ lead. I found that my cradle is very unreliable. The USB cable works when the cradle does not (rythmes with rock).
