I tried the update tonight. Followed all the instructions to a T! The update went to 51% and it was writing to the iPaq and an error came up on the desktop CODE 402: Cannot communicate with device, I went through the instructions in the solutions for this error, disconnect, soft reset, reconnect and start update again. Did this three times and then called HP. They are sending me a new one, device is bricked.

It starts up with the HP logo, just like it used to, but with an "RUU..." at the top, I guess that tells them it needs to be repaired. Glad this happened before warranty is out. I just wanted the update to get louder phone speaker, I'm tired of telling everyone to speak loud so I can hear them, otherwise everything else has been fine with it.

I resolved the issue using a computer with XP on it, Vista was the problem.
Everything works fine now. The update took about an hour.

I'm glad installing the update via an XP machine fixed the problem for you. Too bad Vista still does not play well with these updates. Thanks for posting.
