Help with WiFi Connection
Hey guys--
I got my ipaq yesterday. I'm having trouble connecting to WiFi. It shows that its picking up the WiFi Connection but its just not really connected. And even when it says WiFi is connected it says connecting to GPRS or something. Am I missing something.

I don't want to discourage anyone from getting this because of this, I'm sure the problem is based on my lack of knowledge on this topic. This is truely a beautiful peace. I'm pleased so far except for the problem with connecting to the internet.

Thanks, any help would be appreciated

Craig

Check out the wifi page on our sister site, wifi.aximsite.com. It will give you a great deal of information regarding wifi and setup.

I had a few woes with mine. I found it deceiving that I would get a connect message and could not ping to or from the router or another computer. I finally updated my router's firmware and it is working much better.

Defective Ipaq 6315 - Wifi
I actually got one of the first ones shipped from the TMobile pre-order and teh wifi worked for a few days then just stopped. I went through every level of support including HP and ended up sending it back as defective. The new one the sent me seems to work so far, day 1. We'll see if it craps out like my last one after a few days.

I found that shared WEP did not work with my USR router, but "open" did. It's slightly more secure, despite what the name "open" seems to imply.

I too found the same results as Dennis did, once I changed to that my Wifi worked flawlessly.

I would tell you though if a hacker wanted to sit outside your home for a while it will be easier for him/her to get into your system compared to using Shared WEP. But if you are truly worried then you can download a great PPC Firewall from Airscanner.
