Making a call via Bluetooth headset
In reviewing the 6300 series FAQ, I read:
Q. What can I do with Bluetooth?
A . With Bluetooth you can:
Make a wireless phone call using a Bluetooth headset
.

I thought that the 6300 series did not support dialing via voice recognition. Maybe I simply misinterpreted that statement? Can you make a call using a bluetooth headset via voice recognition?

I think you are misinterpreting. It says 'make a call' but not 'dial a call' As far as I can tell all of the voice recognition apps need a HW button on the phone pressed. The button on the headset cannot be mapped.

What I have not established is whether you can speak into the BT headset once the button is pressed. I would love to know because even that would e better than nothing.

I'm not sure what you're asking there? If you are asking when a call comes in, can you simply press a button on your BT headset to accept the call and speak, then the answer is yes. At least I haven't had any problems doing so.

I do have one more wish for the h63xx, but I suppose it deserves a new thread of its own.

What I meant was even though you cannot initiate a voicedial with the headset button it would be good if you could press a button on the iPaq and then give the VD command through the BT headset. I'm not sure if this is possible and I'm not willing to give Bill another $40 to find out.....

I've seen other posts from people who have a headset like the Jabra and the Microsoft Voice Commander software. They DO need to press a button on the ipaq to initiate, but then they were able (if not always accurately) issue voice commands through the bluetooth headset.

I'm still trying to decide on a headset model. Any suggestions? The Jabra seems a little big.

Bill gets a little richer.....
I bit the bullet and purchased Voice Command yesterday. It is a lot of fun but I'm not sure how practical it is.

Today I actually managed to call my wife by pressing a button on the iPaq and putting the command into the Motorola BT headset (it's pretty scary when managing to make a phone call gives one a sense of achievment - have we overconverged?.....).

The VC accuracy without the headset is remarkable, with headset it is less so. I cannot compare headsets but both my wife and I are at least coping with the Motorola 810. I find it a little insecure on my ear.

i agree, the motorola is pretty good and i also have VC. i think it is a great idea but i wouldn't want anyone listening to me when i'm trying to initiate a phone call with VC...LOL. i sound like i am learning how to talk again...PERFECT. to get it to work.
