Powered mount for car?
I'd love to get a powered mount/cradle for my car. Since I already have a pedestal in the car, a powered cradle is what I'm looking for. If anyone has any ideas, don't hold your breath!

Along the same train of thought; Does anyone know if the h63xx's charging/communications port supports any of the functions:
  • External antena
  • External mic
  • External speaker

Have you checked Arkon or Seidio?

I think the 6315 has the same connector as most previous iPAQs, and it doesn't support any of those (at least, not that I've heard of).

However, the 6315 has a headset connector which should allow an external microphone and speaker. In fact, on my powered GPS mount, I connect the headset output of my iPAQ 5550 to the mount's audio input to have directions play over the mount's speaker.

Is there some reason you need to connect to the serial connector?

Steve

External Antenna?
On the back of the 6315, near the stub antenna, there is a small silver round rubber plug. I haven't tried to remove it, but my Nokia cellphone has a similar one and that's where you plug in its external antenna (with which I found no improvement).

I would also recommend Seidio however I don't see one available for the h6300. I am sure that it is a matter of time since the h6300 is pratically a new device that is pretty much new to the marketplace.

A "universal" mount (ones with movable side arms) might work. I think the 6315 has the same serial connector as the rest of the iPAQ line, so the power cables should be compatible. (If somebody knows better, please let me know.)

That might work as long as the connector is compatible for the iPAQ.

Car Power Adapter
According to HP's web site, the Auto adapter kit for iPAQ (FA125A#AC3) (car charger) works:

Quote:
Compatibility: iPAQ 1700, 1900, 2200, 3000, 3800, 3900, 4100, 4300, 4700, 5400, 5500, and 6300 series
I'm using it on my 6315, btw.
