ATTN : 63xx Owners!!!
I am trying to isolate one of the little quirks I am having prior to finishing my review and need some input.

Has anyone you talk to on the 63xx series ever complained about hearing themselves echo back to them? If you are familiar with overseas calls or DSN/Autovon calls, it was described to me as sounding similar. THis is happening with a good portion of my calls and T-Mobile has simply told me to turn it off and back on. (yeah...)

Thanks!

I think this is a issue with the TMobile service. I have had that problem several times when talking to people with other tmobile phones.(none of which have the 6315 yet

This issue has to due with NPA/NXX channels crossing in Time slots with towers. It is correctable. Most of the time this is seen with Channel Crossing over seas. For some reason some users are seeing this. One thing you should do is have a Sim Swap done at a store to test the Device and Sim card. If this doesn't work a Ticket should be filled to my group.

Everybody tells me they have an echo talking to me, but only when I use the supplied earpiece.

Same thing?

i think it is actually an individual unit problem for some. i have not had any problems. maybe it is the unit itself.

Yes, I have heard this echo on long distance calls I have made from CA to OR, for it happened last night!

so far i have not experienced this on the headset of the actual handheld. as i mentioned in another post my wife had a problem with it and switched out her unit and sim. it seems to be working fine now with the bluetooth headset and the handheld. (knock on wood!)

Does not the SIM have the account specific information on it? My unit came with two additional SIMs. I simply put the SIM from the phone I was using into it. If I used another SIM, does that not require T-Mobile's involvement to de-activate the old and activate the new SIM?

Yes your sim is what stores your acct info (phone number) designed that way to switch easily between handsets.

You would need to call customer care (800-937-8997 direct LL or 611 from handset) and give them the new sim card number to be updated. It's ok to call from the phone with the new sim in it, just keep the credit card sized piece of plastic it came in out and they'll need the # starting with 8901 260. Once they update it the new SIM should be active well within 2 hours but keep in mind that any information stored on old sim (phonebook/contacts, SMS) will be lost of course so back it up first.

You can also go to www.t-mobile.com and update phonebook entries over the air directly to your SIM if you're not wanting to fill it all out on the device, you can send up to 10 entries to your SIM at a time.

Hope that answers your question

The echo problem can happen on any device, and it can be caused by the network or device as well I'm sure, but it's much better to try and fix the easier things first before jumping straight into equipment replacement unless the store you bought it from has another new one and are willing to swap. Keep in mind the manufacture's warranty for all makes is to replace with comprable device (which may be refurbished) so I always look at that after trying other options first.

Probably not, if it were a network issue the HF (earpiece) should not make a difference. May be too much background noise or volume, you can try shielding the mic area with your hand to see if it makes a difference. Better HF may solve that.
