h6315 and 2003 Mobile Second Edition?
Does anyone know if we are going to be able to upgrade to Microsoft Mobile 2003 Second edition at any point?

HP has not made it clear, but I would not expect it.

WM 2003 SE On The 6315

Actually, they made it fairly clear in two ways.

First, they didn't provide SE upgrades for any other Windows Mobile 2003 devices, so I wouldn't expect one for the 6315.

Second, they specifically said that it was unlikely the 6300s would get an upgrade.

Quote:
Does the newly launched h6300 come with Microsoft® Windows Mobile™ 2003 Second Edition?

Based on the product design functionality and release timing, it was decided not to offer Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition on this model. HP has included enhanced wireless capabilities on this product including the latest WiFi security standards. It is unlikely that HP will provide an update to Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition on this product. Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition would not provide any significant enhancements, as most of the key functionality that is important on a device such as the iPaq h6300 series has been taken into consideration prior to its release.
Those aren't definite "No"s, but I think the answer is clear.

I agree, but there is a glimmer of hope in my mind. (for the 6315, not the 2003 models)

So 2nd edition has to be specifically released for the 6315 model correct?

That sucks, I was hoping to get the ability to turn my screen horizontally or vertically depending on what I needed to do.

Yes, HP would have to release a WM2003SE ROM specifically for the h6315 which I don't count on.

How about a bug fix anyway?
not too sure I care about 2nd edition but I would sure like a 'service pack' for the current software. I am having to reboot at least twice a day on lockups. just like the good old days.......
