Help Please - my ipaq 6365 won't connect to my Cell network! -******* FIXED!! ***
Ok, my ipaq 6345 just arrived from Dolm.com from sigapore and everything seems to work great, but i can't get it to connect to my cell phone network. I've got the sim in and everything, but the phone just won't work, it just keeps searching for a network, and never finds it. I'm on Rogers Wireless in Canada, GSM 850 & 1900. if i go to start, settings, connections and click on the GSM/GPRS settings, if correctly detects them - as in my Country: Canada & Opperator: Rogers Wireless. But the Phone Connection/reception icon is continiously in search mode, and when i try to change its settings in the Network tab - its never able to find the network. - so i don't know whats going on here.

This thing is suppose to be unlocked right? all the info i read about it on the net said it was unlocked, and no its not a 6315, so whats the deal? is there some speciall procedure, or do i have to contact my wireless provider? I though as long as the phone is unlocked (assuming it works onthe same frequences ie 850,900,1800 or 1900) all you have to do is swap in your sim card.

Anyway, would really, really appreciate some advise on how to get this thing to work, please.
Thanks

YAHOO!! i fixed it! - I had to go into settings, under the personal tab, and change the phone Band from Europe, Asia (900/1800) to North America (850/1900) and then it works!!
Damn the documentation that comes with these things is useless - they tell you how to do all the obvious stuff, but not the unobvious stuff. You'd think the option to change the band would be presented in the network screen, not in some completely unrelated screen. doopy, ah well it works great!! YES!!

I am plannin to get iPAQ 6300.
I would like to know whether you used the SIM card provided by the cell phone service provider or the one supplied alog with iPAQ
In my place Chennai, India the Cell phone service providers supply the SIM card

The Ipaq h6365 doesn't come with a SIM card, because its factory unlocked. As such you have to get a sim card from your service provider, but if you've already got a service provider & a phone, on a gsm network, then the sim card is already in your phone. If not then you simply sign up with a servie provider, and they'll give you a sim card. Just make sure its a gsm/gprs network and that its on a suitable band (don't know what they use in India)

All "world" phones require you to change bands from 800/1800 to 900/1900 when entering N. America.
