GPRS Modem without bluetooth?
I am completely frustrated with trying to use my iPaq as a GPRS modem via the bluetooth service to hook my laptop to the Internet. The combined inefficiency and flakiness is completely hopeless.

Is it possible to use the iPaq as a modem via a USB cable? At least that will remove one set of issues.

Thanks

Graham

I am having the same issues. The instructions posted in this forum were exactly the instructions I also got from T-Mobile/HP support ... but we were unable to make it work. Anyone with other ideas, please let me know also.
Thanks,
Dave

Hi dave,

Where are the instructions posted? I contacted HP and they said its not possible to use IPAQ as a modem. Any ways, if there are any instructions anywhere please let me know and if anyone finds a workaround let me also know.

Thanks

You can't use your iPAQ as normal modem i.e. for sending faxes. But there is no problem by using a gprs connection via bluetooth. I set it up without any instructions and it works without problems. If there are instructions somewhere, let my know where, and I will verify them for you comparing with my own settings.

, I am also using my 6340 as a bluetooth modem with my notebook. No problems so far!

Instructions are as easy as following (as far as I remember): 1) make a new bluetooth connection from laptop 2) use bluetooth modem service of the found ipaq 3) add parameters of your GSM provider 4) Connect to the internet! Please, advise where exactly (on which step) you are having problems.
