[problems] sending POP3 e-mail...
I just realized over the weekend that I have been lying about being able to send POP3 e-mail from Yahoo! and work over GPRS. I thought that a couple of weeks ago I successfully tested it, but over the weekend I was not able to send any.

As an FYI, over W-Fi I am able to send messages flawlessly. I think this implies that my Account settings for my Inbox work for both e-mail accounts.

Do I really need to use the T-Mobile e-mail service? I'd rather stay away from that as I see no added value in it.

Any thoughts?

Open your inbox on the PPC and goto Tools -> Accounts. Edit your email account. On the server information page (email setup 4/4) tap Options. Goto page 2/3 and select 'Outgoing email server requires authentication'. That should get you working.

Was already using that setting. It appears to be working now. Do you think there's a size limitation over a GPRS connection?

I will watch this and see if it continues to work consistently.

THanks for the quick reply!

Elmer,
I am having the same problem as you. After Talking to a tmobile tech level 2, he said there is a known issue when sending email over gprs over 2k in size. They say ther are working with HP to correct the issue.

When I have to send an email, I have to wardrive to find an open WiFi network to send it. It is SO frustrating.

There is no size limitation with GPRS, just a bandwidth limitation. From What I've heard T-Mobile knows about an issue sending e-mail with attachments on the 63xx, with time resolution date as of yet.

bandwidth limitation...
The more I use this the more I think it's a bandwidth limitation. What's I've done is store all my e-mails in the Drafts folder and when using GPRS, I send them one at a time. I also try to limit the size of the message to 2-3k. A little tedious but it gets the job done.

Did you install the XIP Update that came out a while back? I thought that was supposed to fix stuff like this?

What kind of errors do you get when sending them all at once?

XIP installed...
I've been able to succesfully send emails in excess of 10k. While I still get a time out error every now and then, I think it's due more to signal strength.
