HP6315 Call Waiting Crash
I can't believe this. Can anyone with this phone use call waiting? 3 of us here each have a HP6315, and if at anytime we click on the "accept" or "ignore" buttons that popup when you recieve a 2nd call (while in a call) the phone crashes.

This is 100% repeatable on all 3 phones.

Wow, that's not good. Call waiting is a basic function of cell phones. What's the point if basic phone functions does not work properly!

Have you contacted HP about this?

I have the same problem. I noticed that it only happens when I originate the first call. If I receive 2 calls, the answer and ignore both work properly. I tried HP Instant support, they told me to contact TMobile. TMobile told me I should return the unit.

it must be a bad production phone because mine does not have the problem at all. I would suggest exchanging it.

This is my 3rd replacement. I stopped using any add-on software since my 1st unit so that I could accurately determine if this phone will be viable for me. So no, I don't use any add-on software

When I say Crash I mean that, as in the "accept" / "ignore" popup shows and will never close. It will freeze all phone calls during this process. Even if you try to close the phone app, the pop-up stays on the screen and will never go away.

So basically, its not like a hardlock crash. Its a crash never the less, because I loose both phone calls and I have to soft-reset to clear the problem.

I have done a lot of troubleshooting (have been a IT consultant for over 14 years). I want to love this phone. I am willing to deal with some problems, but this one is a show stopper for me.

I've had all kind of crashes/problems with my phone.

What happens to me during call waiting: If I'm on the line with someone and I get an incoming call, I have to choose IGNORE.

If I choose accept, I talk to the new person fine, but when I return to the original phone call the phone either crashes or the other person can't hear me talking anymore.

If I don't choose anything and just wait for them to stop calling, the phone either crashes with the ignore/accept screen sitting there or the other person can't hear me talking anymore.

And when I say they can't hear me talking, it's not just quiet. They absolutely can't hear me. It's like the headset goes dead.

Yes. This is the type of things that happen to me as well. Most of the time it doesn't even get that far. It just drops both callers and leaves the popup window open.

I am not somone who gives up easily, but I went ahead and ordered a PDA2k for $400 more than I bought this thing. I am going to return the hp6315 tomorrow for a refund. Unfortunatly, the nature of these devices is to have quirks like these. So I expected it. I was hoping though, that HP & Tmobile would be swift with solving problems like these. Stuff like this should of been caught in the beta testing. Its clear they are having customer beta the product.

Everyone on the internet says that i-mate (ones who make pda2k) are REALLY good at supporting their product and work with the customer daily with status to updates and problems. They really care about the quality of their product in the field. Even though I know that HP & Tmobile have great customer service, I have not found this type of support from them. HP/Tmo would just have me replace the handheld until I got one that worked. It seems this is the way tech support is going these days (to just replace it until you get lucky). Reminds me of my Treo600, I was on my 7th!!! Treo600 when I bought the HP6315 (anyone here who is a past Treo 600 user, knows about the buzzing problems with Treos).

Flat out, I bought pda2k because of the support I can get from the product. Its worth the money to me.

Does our T-Mobile sim chips work directly with the PDA2K? If so I may change also, but after I see how everyones work for awhile, even though I have had very little troubles with my 6315 and I do mean very little, but keep in my I have not added any major apps to it either because of the problems that occur after adding them so it makes me gunshy and I don't want to be like that either so maybe it is in my best intrest to get the iMate.

Your sim will work just fine in the i-mate. There will be some setting changes that will have to be made to get the GPRS, SMS, & MMS working though. They will be simple changes and easy though.

I feel the same about being gunshy. I also heldback from installing interesting software because I didn't want to add more problems to my phone. Its horrible when you spend >$500 on a device and can't even use it for what it was bought for.

Call Waiting Issues
I have the same exact issues with my call waiting. If i initiate a call and then receive one i need to soft reset if i click either answer or ignore.

This plus the system crashing when it goes into sleep mode (i use a NEW generation BT headset) is really eating into my morale, with this phone.

HP tries to help but their techs arent trained on the 1g device.
