h6315 on ATT - new voicemail on soft reset
I am using an unlocked TMob h6315 on ATT (ATT sim) - every time I perform a soft reset and the bootup completes, I get a new voicemail notification. When I call my ATT voicemail - and find that there are no messages in my ATT voicemail box - and disconnect, the voicemail indicator remains. The only way I have found to get rid of the indicator is to send myself a voicemail (from another line), then call voicemail, retrieve it and disconnect. Indicator goes away! The indicator works correctly when I receive a "true" voicemail (both if I've gone through the process to eliminate the original "false" indicator -or if I just leave the "false" indicator there).

So this is not a major problem as everything works just fine -- more of a nuisance. The only explanation I can think of is that there is something in the start up sequence to insert a "false" voicemail notification, so that a brand new user would retrieve a generic TMobile voicemail -- either a "welcome" or "how to signup for service" type of message. Since I am not on the TMobile network, I cannot connect to the TMobile voicemail to retrieve that generic message -- and the setting (in the registry?) is not set to indicate I retrieved the mesaage. Thus on every soft reset I am seen as a new user in the start up routine.

Has anyone found either 1) where this "false" voicemail indicator is set in the startup routine or 2) where the message retrieved flag is set in the registry?

Thanks in advance for any assistance

I am not using ATT, but Cingular. Which today is the same company. I also have an unlocked 6315 and do not have this issue. The only issue that I am having is once I read the email that I have downloaded, and go back to the today screen, the entire unit freezes and I have to do a soft reset. Any suggestions to that problem??
