Random alerts
Anyone seen this? My 6315 will occasionally beep an alert (INFBEG, the default for ActiveSync Beginning), even though there are no alerts checked. This is the same alert you get when you turn your iPAQ on.

My screen doesn't come on, and if I press the power button right away, I don't get a second tone. If I wait a minute or so & press the power button, my screen comes on & I hear INFBEG.

Not a big issue, but I cannot see why this is happening. My GPRS is off, Bluetooth & WiFi are off. Phone is no but sitting on my desk at work with 3-4 bars. No Messaging programs running, nothing that should be doing auto updates.

Any suggestions?

Have you turned infrared off? If not it could be from some other infrared device coming into range.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it seems I've found the culprit, or at least a contributing factor: The iPAQ keyboard. Note that you only hear the INFBEG alert when you plug in the keyboard or when you turn the PDA on with the keyboard attached. I usually carry it around attached so didn't even consider that it contributed.

So, I've determined that the keyboard is the reason I hear the alerts, but I still don't know why I randomly GET the alerts. (Just got another one while typing, in fact. Screen stayed off, so I waited about 10 seconds, then turned on the PDA - alert once again!) No infrared on, no Bluetooth, no WiFi, and I've disconnected from GPRS. The PDA is sitting on my desk with 3-4 bars, so I don't THINK it's losing, then regaining a signal. Hmmm.

Also note that NONE of my alerts are linked to the INFBEG alert, so it's not something that is customizeable from the settings screen.
