Settings on hp6365 for correct WiFi set up
Dear Members and Experts!

I bought a hp6365 1 week ago and I still cannot get a stable WiFi connection in my home network. I have a server on XPPro (192.168.1.2) that is on ADSL with a USB modem. Sygate Firewall is on with Sygate Internet sharing. On this server a Trendnet AP is connected via an Ethernet cable (192.168.1.1). A notebook with XPPro SP2 is connected (192.168.1.3) to this AP with a Trendnet PCMCIA WiFi card as is a Pavillion desktop with a PCI WiFi card (192.168.1.4). No DHCP servers neither on the AP or the Sygate internet sharing software. All have static addresses. Now the Hp6365 (latest ROM upgrade) comes into the picture. The cradle is connected to the laptop and it has static IP (192.168.1.5) with gateway as the server (192.168.1.2) and DNS and WINS as te server. NetBios enabled over TCP on all. Everything works perfect on the USB cradle but only from time to time on the WiFi. The network card of the HP is "work" and the advanced on the settings is both "my work network". Tried pockethosts (really messes up with the AP and the WiFi connection becomes unstable), tried the vxUtil but it tells me only what I already know on the IP addresses and confirms that I cannot ping on WiFi. Yesterday night it was really ok with internet and network and active sync (albeit a bit to slow: Ping on 500 ms+) but this morning again all gone. At times it tells me that it cannot initate the sync software. I am getting crazy as I really like the 6365 (no problems with GSM connections and stuff). Please help by posting a full set up fro the WiFi on the HP!!! Please!!!

PS all the excelent tutorials in the Axim site and the http://www.wifizard.com/tutorialsXP/sync/index.htm I have gone through but they all presuppose a working WiFi on the HP DS

Solution
Dear Friends!
I think I have a solution for all tired WiFi syncing and interneting friends! Indeed as it was pointed out by Tofo and all friends in their replies (28/11/04) IT MUST BE A POWER ISSUE! My hp 6365 when on battery 100% charged WILL NOT Sync or do internet with the settings as pointed out in the excellent tutorials of Ikehike! but when out of the cradle I connect the AC power, it all happens correctly as by magic! Moreover, when I ping from the latop PC on battery I get >500 at best or request time out. When on AC ping times =4ms. Even if you connect the AC between the 2nd or 3rd ping effort you get 2 request time out and 2 under 4ms. So it is NOT that people cannot put the correct parameters, it has to be a flaw in the machine! I tried to take away all power saving stuff and to increase the brightness to max, but still the same! Furthermore, the WiFi light while on battery is green and blinking and the HP is associaed to te AP but nothng happens. Bluetooth no problem at all whatsoever!

Any ideas what exactly it is that contibutes to this problem? Or any solution except from replacing?

peer to peer ok
Went to the shop I bought it and tested ad-hoc without any problem with the laptop! So I guess it has nothing to do with the wifi of the HP but maybe with my AP? It's a TRENDNET AP. Anyone any ideas? Will try different power saving or increasing demand stuff with the AP.
Cheers
