6340 with many freezing
6340 with many freezing

I don't know if it happens with other but I am very disappointed with
my PDA. Ipaq 6340 with Windows Mobile 2003.
Almost everyday for two or three times the pda freezes in different situations. Or when a task alarm, or when it synchronizes with my desktop, or when I receive a phone call, etc, etc.
I have the firmware 1.11.10 but it always happened with the previous versions.

Some idea how to cross this problem?

Installed software:
- Macromedia Flash Player
- PocketMax phoneAlarm
- Ysoft Pic&ring
- Pocket Wether
- SBSH VGA Icons
- Sprite Software
- Resco Black Keyboard skin
- WebIS Pocket Informant 2005

Thanks

Arnaldo

The 6340 does have its quirks unfortunately. Having had mine for almost a year now, I've found that performing regular maintenance works best, by using programmes like SKTools and MemMaid to 'clean' the device I have managed to stabilise mine (haven't had a 'freeze' or soft reset in a week!).

It's actually a very nice device when it's behaving itself . Good luck.

I do not know how this part is called in english, I'm speaking of the part which makes the 63xx vibrate. I had my iPAQ freezing each time when it went off. So as a first workaround I disabled vibrations for all events (calls, alarms, reminders etc.). Later I ordered a new one and installed it myself. It was not difficult. Now I have a 6340 vibrating without freezing.

Arnaldo, I'm not a techie at all, but I don't think the problem is due to the programs you've currently got (they're all fine as far as I know). It's probably due to some contaminated writes to the registry made by some of your old now-uninstalled programs.

The best solution is to do a Hard Reset and install all your programs from scratch (and not from the backup file --- of course you still need to do a backup file to restore your personal files).

And, I've also had some stability issues recently (after my first post) .So I haven't resolved the problem yet, although it does happen much less frequently than before (...this means that listing my installed programs probably won't help).

I'm suspecting that some "notifications" are to blame for instability... anyone out there who can provide more information on the relationship between 'notifications' vs device stability wrt ipaq h63xx series???

I agree with you Maccie, the notifications are the main problem for
freezing of PDA.

They can be notifications of "tasks" or "appointments" brings me the same problem .

If somebody knows as solving this please post here.

Thanks
Arnaldo
