battery life on hw6500?
I like all the features that the hw6500 has, but what is battery life going to be like? Its got the xscale processor so I imagine its not as good as the MIPS in the 6300

So you have a 6515? Have you used a 6315? What kind of battery life do you get without putting the device into standby, just turning the screen off with a program like PocketPlus. How fast is it compared to the 6315? Is the reception and voice quality better than the 6315? Are there any of the familiar problems making phone calls that the 6315 has?

Check out the review @ www.infosyncworld.com, If I have the patience I will try and wait for the 6700 or HTC Wizard.

hi there!

1st post on this site with my new gadget!

i am a gadget freak, i own practically all the current devices (XDAIIs, Imate Jam, H4150) and i have to say i am really impressed with the 6515......for a processor that on paper is less than the Jam's, i can honestly say i cannot tell the difference at all in speed...........with the GPS (TomTom) it is VERY fast!

as for battery life, no worse than any other PDA i've owned

and the call quality is actually very good.........on a par with the XDAIIs and much better than the tinny Jam

Cheers !

You're going to have a hard time getting this question answered. Battery life is often my most important consideration, but every time I ask about battery life I get either no answer at all or answers such as, "it is pretty good," "I charge mine every few days," but they never really explain.

My advice, wait for reviews to pop up on the net and read them...otherwise you'll probably sit around waiting only to get uninformative posts about it.

i can answer this question with some certaintly. i used to own a 6365 (6315) and battery life was more than i could ask for. now i own a 6515 and find the battery 60-65% (two-thirds) as good. so there you go about the battery life unliked question.

It's "pretty bad" compared to a mobile. Don't plan on leaving your home more than 1½ day with out a charger. Compared to other pda's i dont know.

But i am very happy with it. It's the best.

i use my 6515 as a phone and pda....... absolutely love it compared to the keyboard-less Jam........

i have a Brodit Cardle/Charger dedicated for the 6515 and that keeps it charged during the day

i honestly think that if you are adamant on using the device as a phone replacement, then just like car kits for mobiles, a car kit is essential for a device like this...........

if i were to use it as a PDA only (and at weekends that's pretty much all it's used for) then it lasts me a couple to 3 days of GPRS always on, 1hr a day surfing etc etc

i would say the battery is as good if not better than the Jam............

leave the cradle at home, get a charger for the car and perhaps a USB charger for laptop/wall charging whilst away and you'll be fine !
