Ipaq 6515 Software
I've found that some of my software from previous Ipaq's is not compatible (screen size wise) with the 6515. For example Worldmate...the pocket PC version does not fit the screen. I've tried the Pocket PC Phone edition but that does not install at all. What am I missing here....?
Thanks

Hi lepremier. Do you have the latest versionof Worldmate? If so,they apparently haven't updated their software to be compatible with WM2003SE although I have the professional version on my 4700 (normal size screen though). If you do have the latest version and it isn't working, then there won't be much you can do until they update their software.

Thanks swhoutx035. Do you know if software for the 6515 comes under the category of normal Pocket PC or Pocket PC Phone?

Hi lepremier. For now, until WM5 is released, it is a Pocket PC device. After WM5 - for software purposes, we'll all be in the same boat.

You need to email the developers of your current and waiting to purchase apps and let them know you need them to support 240x240 screen. Its not an issue of WMCP or WMPE2003SE its more about the screen.

So the software for this Ipaq is very limited? Most apps and games will have a different screen size, so it will either not work or the screen will be shrinked or have the wrong resolution?

Why did HP make a different size screen then? Surely they should have known this will happen?

Whats the best Ipaq to get at the moment? I'm thinking of trading mine or selling it and buying something else...

Yes, but I would've liked to use mine for games as well. They should have made it bigger then and kept the same size screen as the others, or have left out the keyboard...

I finally received my Ipaq 6515 yesterday

I've been wondering about how many games will work on the different screen size, so thats the first thing I tested...

Super Miners - works but part of the screen missing
Need for Speed - works but part of the screen missing
Myst - works, smaller screen to fit, blank parts on top and bottom (or left and right, depending on how u play)
Tomb Raider - doesn't start
Warcraft 2 - doesn't start
Worms World Party - doesn't start
Warfare - Perfect, best game I've tried so far
Ghost 'n Goblins - graphics all screwed
PacMan - part of the screen missing and couldn't figure out how to start the game
Motorcross Stunt Racer - Perfect
Fade - loads to 19% and exists
Age of Empires - doesn't start
Who wants to be a Millionaire - works but part of the screen missing

The only program I'm really very happy about so far is Pocket Scumm. It's a program that lets you play old adventure games (Day of the Tentacle, Indiana Jones, Beneath a Steel Sky, Monkey Island etc.) So far I've only tried Flight of the Amazon Queen, and it plays perfect with full speech and music. I still have a lot of these old adventure games and they're perfect for a pocket pc, can't wait to try the rest.

Oh well, back to see what else works and doesn't work...

Cheers
