hw6510 memory filling up
I'm a total newbie on PPC, having been a Palm user for many years.

I just got an unlocked hw6510 from Expansys and I'm using it on T-mobile network.

When I first started using it I had gobs of "storage memory" and "program memory", but now the storage memory is completely full (1.33MB remaining) and the program memory is nearly so (3.58MB with nothing running).

My "storage card" "IPAQ File Store" is virtually empty with 11.52MB of 12.01MB free. My 1GB SD card has plenty of space.

I have installed nothing extra, I even deleted some stuff that came on it (HP How Do I?, etc.)

When I do Start -> Settings -> System -> Remove Programs, there is nothing left to remove.

The only things I can think of that I have done to possibly take up memory are (1) transfer my contacts list from Palm (not large, 478 contacts), and (2) setup my POP email and download the messages in my inbox (at one time 80, but I deleted down to a handful to see if it made a difference on memory - it made a very small difference).

If I go to Settings -> Memory -> Main, "Find large files using storage memory", it shows one file >64KB (76KB file related to HP Image).

It did this before and I did a hard reset and had gobs of memory again, but then after I set things up and used it for a day and a half the memory was full once again.

Any suggestions?

I fiddled around with it some more and discovered the problem.

I set my email to download attachments and also set it to not immediately delete messages, so even after I cleaned out the mail box the attachments were using up memory.

I made two fixes to solve the problem: (1) set email to delete messages immediately instead of keeping them in "Deleted Items" and (2) download attachments to card.

Everything is working great now.
