Ipaq hw6945 and hw6915
Is there any difference betweent the 2 models?
I was going to buy it from Expansys but I saw the hw6945 in HP for about $200 less.

Same hardware, different ROM. I don't think the hw6945 comes with TomTom.

In case of upgrades?
Is there some limitation for upgrades?

Which one would you suggest?

Thank you for your help.

If you live in the US it will be painful to get a hw6915 serviced. hw6945 would be straightforward. Not sure about upgrades - the ROM updates are usually available either way.

Same device different country/localization.

HP USA will not service anything that's not a 6940/6945. You'd have to take your chances trying to send a 6910/6915/6950/6955/6960 /6965 back to whatever country you purchased it from. So if you live in the USA get a 6940/6945 from HP USA themselves.

Thank you,
I will buy the 6945 as I am in the US.

I have another question:
It appears that this device does not have Tom Tom navigation.
Which software would you suggest for the GPS?
Is there a site where I can find the comparison and/or reviews of Nav softwares?

I would like to have the USA/CANADA's maps but also Europe's (because I am from there) and I go to Europe quite often....

Any GPS software that supports 240 x 240 resolution. I personally use and like iGuidance and iGo. Mapopolis also works very well and is very fast, but not as "pretty" or feature rich as some others that have things like live traffic updates and live weather updates, etc.

You can also use the 60 day trial of HP's GPS Navigation made by Navteq to see if it works for you.

This is a little out dated by now, but ...

When I called HP & tw them about the cost of the "permanent activation fee" for using the Navteq GPS software, they told me that I could also use it with TomTom & their "permanent activation fee" was the same ($129). You may want to cruise to the HP website & talk to someone in pre-sales about that to confirm.

My 6945 arrives tmrw & I'm going to do the free 60 day trial with NavTeq to see if they are adequate. Having never had a PDA or GPS, I'm not sure what I'll be looking for. But, I'll talk to someone who has it to confirm. I really want something that's thorough & easy to use (so I can attach it to the handlebar of my motorcycle when I'm riding).
