iPaq 6945 won't charge, solid red LED

My 6945 is dead and won't charge. Tried 2 new battery but no success. Charge indicator LED is solid red which says it's to low to charge. Any way to charge the battery other than in the unit? Help!!!!

have you tried using a clean pencil eraser to clean the battery contacts inside the unit. do the battery side and the unit side.

if it is possible, se if the contcats are still springy enough that they make solid contact, perhaps pry on them gently to flex them a bit more.

Thanks. I've been trying to figure out what's going on with my other iPAQ. I'll try this.
