Hi,

I’ve been researching for a SmartPhone, and for what I’ve read, HP 6945 is probably the best at this time. My only concern is, should I buy this Phone, or wait for an upgrade by HP to provide Windows Mobile 6?

Depends on what you've got & what you need & what you want!

Do you need one now? Then go for it.

Already got a PDA & just want the latest & greatest? Then wait for it.

There will ALWAYS be something new on the horizon. If you're waiting on HP to put WM6 on the next gen of the 6945, then there will be a Blackberry or BlackJack or BlackVapor (i.e.: vaporware) about to be released that will be even better.

I'm a gadget lover, but was slow coming into the PDA scene. But, I was convinced that I needed to upgrade from the paper DayRunner to something a bit more serious. I REALLY wanted a laptop that fit in my shirt pocket. The time was right for me to do something, so I did what I thought was best AT THAT TIME.

If you've already got a half-dozen PDAs (like some folks), then you'll probably want to wait. Heck, if you've already got ONE that works, you'll probably want to wait. But, if you've got an immediate need for the increased functionality, then now is the time to make a move. That's how I approach everything.

Dave Barry - comedy writer - wrote about the Technology Police. They sit in their unmarked police cars down the street from everyone's house, waiting for everyone to bring home the latest & greatest technology. As soon as someone pulls out a box from their car, they're identifying it using their binoculars and getting on their cell phones to the manufacturers telling them to send out the NEXT release of that model. Moore's Law ("The empirical observation made in 1965 that the number of transistors on an integrated circuit for minimum component cost doubles every 24 months.") dictates that the Technology Police stay on top of what we purchase so that the "If you build it, they will come" mindset prevails.

Hey, if you can't dazzle them with brilliance, then baffle them with bs!

Best of luck to you. I love my 6945 - after tweaks & extra software - with WM5. And, I don't like being the first one to buy a new technology - especially not the first one to buy (or attempt the upgrade of) Microsoft Operating Systems!!!
