hp IPAQ 65xx series and spectec 821 wifi card install problem

Hello mobility gurus,

I just bought a spectec 821 SDIO card for my IPAQ 65xx. I installed the drivers supplied by spectec, and now try to connect to my home wifi router.
In parameters/ network cards/wireless the PDA now detects all available wifi routers in the neighbourhood. I try to connect to mine, enter the WEP key and click ok.
But each time i try to connect to the internet the PDA tries to do so via the GPRS connection.
I understand that i should create a new connexion, but when i try to do so, the IPAQ only proposes me to use bluetooth, IRDA, Hayes compatible on COM1, or GPRS. No option to create a connexion through the wifi link.
Meanwhile, the wifi card is blinking like hell.

Thanks for your valuable help.

Go to your Network Connections > Advanced > Select Networks and change your selections from what-ever it currently (e.g. "SPRINT GPRS") to "My Work Network".

Let me know if that works out for you...

IPAQ and Spectec wifi card

Hello Elrendhel,

Thanks for your input. I did just that. But still can't connect through Internet explorer.
Interestingly, when i go to
Network Connections > Advanced > Select Networks, then "my work network" and click on the modify button, i expect to see a list of connexions. But the list is empty.
So i tried to create one by clicking "new" but the PDA only proposes me to create connexions through:
- bluetooth
- Hayes compatible on COM1
- IRDA générique
- Cellular line
- cellular line (GPRS)
The wifi option is nowhere to be found...

The PDA still shows, at the top of the screen, nearby the phone bars, an image with an antenna surrounede by a glow, with 2 arrows. One incoming and another outbound. So I suppose it means that the wifi spectec antenna is connected?

Thanks for your help.

Then you'll need to click on the Network Card button (on the same Connections page where it usually offers the Select Networks and Select Location options).

There should be an option where you can select your new 821 SDIO card in the list in the bottom window. Once selected, change the top line to reflect the "Work" option. If that fails, select "The Internet".
