HP ProtectTools problems anyone ?
On my hx2750 I am using the installed HP ProtectTools which manages the fingerprint scanner and other security settings. One of the features is the encryption of folders and documents. In the Encryption Settings various different "strengths" can be assigned and the data which should be encrypted (e.g. email, contacts, calender, notes etc and 'My Document' folder).

By now I have deselected this protection feature as it was locking the iPaq up during the boot-up phase and "sat" there for minutes at times.

Now that I'm not using this feature anymore, no more lockups. Has anybody else using the hx2750/55 has had this problem ?

It happens sometimes, not too often. I haven't found out what causes it, but can solve it most of the time.
If I push the agenda button, the menu opens in the fingerprint-login-screen
if I push they d-pad button to select the Owner Info screen, and close it again with the pushbutton, then I can scan my print.

It's a stupid solution, but it works most of the time. I hope it gets fixed some day, but as I need the security, I will not disable the ProtectTools.

Another thing is how much information do you have in your contacts folders and other things? When I added a media to the list of things to encrypt it took about 30 sec to encrypt those folders on startup. If you have a lot of data selected, it will take a while. Try skimming down the amount of info you have selected and see if that fixes the problem.

Another thing, I only turn on my ipaq using the power button. I don't use any of the quicklink buttons on the bottem. I guess if you open up another program, things might get stopped for a bit while the security stuff in the background trys to get up to date.
