22xx - Hard reset does nothing
Hi guys, great forum you have here...read quite abit before posting this, but have you guys ever encountered a PPC that does not start up at all? i had this problem 1 mth ago. it miraculously came alive then...but now it's in the pits again.

Here goes:
First...soft reset - blue and amber lights turn on. no other things can be done.
then...hard reset - blue and amber lights turn off. nothing can be pressed.
finally soft reset - blue and amber lights turn on. again.

if i plug in the charging cable or cradle - both LEDs turn on.

so that's the cycle i am getting into.
(yea, no start up screen or whatever)

the battery seems to be chargeable. using the aux charging port.
drained the backup battery for many hours by taking out the main batt.
didn:t work.

Any doctors out there who knows how to diagnose this?

Welcome to the site!

Try charging your device overnight making sure the main battery and the backup battery is charged. Then see if your device behaves any better.

Let us know what happens. Your device will behave much better on a charged battery.

Hiya guys, guess what. It miraculously came alive again.
What i did this time: I left the battery out of the PDA for a whole day from 8am to 9pm...followed by a nice warm blow by the heater...then plug in the battery...press the reset button once. And ITS ALIVE!

okay.
Theory one. Its winter, got too cold and the battery couldn't discharge any current. (about 11 degrees in my room, less outside). but it didn't happen when i was at some 0-5 degrees holiday area. HMM...
Theory two. some water went in somehow, and it dried up after the heater blew it. NAH. didn't work for DAYS.
Theory three. The back up battery finally gave up and discharged completely and had a real hard reset.
Theory four. Lucky twice?

Am at a foreign country...so...winter is really ...new....

Thanks for the replies though!

Sounds kinda like the problem that I had. Unfortunatly I can't give you any fix for it. I returned my 2750 twice but now this one seems 2 b behaving. Acording to HP if the hard reset doesn't fix it they will just tell you to return it to the point of purchase Not really a good answer.
Good luck.

It works again.
For those with the same problem, this is what i did. well..i do not know which part of it fixed the prob...

1) fully charge battery using aux cradle charger
2) leave it in the Ipaq with doors open
3) soft reset
4) charge the ipaq with the main batt for 1 hour+
5) It didn't work at all. so...take AC power out and hard reset to turn the LEDs off.
6) Then soft reset. to allow the main batteries to be activated.
7) remove main battery. (i did this for 15 hours. up to you.)
8) put it back into ipaq. (i have also attached a piece of masking tape (on top of the battery) that i used to cover the contacts while transporting it to the office.)
9) secure the door tightly. The masking tape on the battery isnt really flat.
10) press soft reset.
11) starts up.

suspect reason: 1)battery is not connected properly. 2) when i took the battery out for the backup to drain, i didnt activate main battery. Hence, the PPC isnt "switched on", thus, it didn't drain completely within a short time. (the back up battery was losing charge like a disconnected battery.)

but i really think it may not be the contacts. HMM...cuz its the same thing when i plug it into the cradle. I mean, its supposed to work without main batteries when in cradle.
