hx2750 power on locked
I own this great machine for a couple of weeks ... however since last week the 2750 sometimes (once or twice a day) doesn´t want to power up when pressing the power button. Pressing all buttons ... nothing

I have to do a soft reset to get it alive again which is pretty annoying if you have to do this 10 times/week.

Any suggestions ? What am I doing wrong ?

Thats a frustrating answer.

I do not a have that particular unit myself,
but have you guys tried things like....

making sure Active Stink is not running, i see it wants to stay on even when unplugged, and i use my Vbar to close it.(or Wisbar or what have you)

Just an idea.

Peace

When I bought my PPC I installed about 12 pgms and played with bluetooth, WIFI and of course Active Sync in combination with remote display. If SW is the problem, it is not possible to check any more which one. Performed a hard-reset yesterday and so far all is well

Will install other softs one per day, and see what happens ?!

Software which you had installed could have been the cause of the trouble. I have also found that some combinations of software just don't seem to work together, even great software for which you paid money for ! During the installation of most current software on the WM2003 SE device, you'll still get an error that this software is not entirely optimized for the SE version.

I had to unfortunately perform a hard reset a while ago, since my email software (not the native Messaging) did not bring attachments in during the sync. After the hard reset I installed all my programs, but tested each installed software after a new program was installed. This "system test" took a long time, but was worth it.
Perform a backup before you install ANY new software.

I really like my hx2750 but do have the same one annoying problem - my hx2750 can often not be turned on with the power switch and I need to perform a soft reset.

I synchronize via Bluetooth, so I only use the docking station sporadically for recharging. What I have noticed is that the problem very consistently happens after recharging (through the docking station or directly) and only then.

It's not clear to me whether this is a hardware, firmware or application software problem. So eventually I plan on going through the same process as you have suggested - clean off everthing with a hard reset and then start installing one app after the other again.

I had that problem sometimes as well on my 2750, but it could be solved by using the joypad to move the cursor downward.
The menu of the security screen would open and if I selected Owner Information, and pressed the selectbutton, it would go right ahead and run as it should.

The times this didn't work are few.

Having used the machine for two months, I conclude it does have some quirks, and I think most of them are user-software related. It is still a very usable and valuable pda to me.

A ROM patch wouldn't hurt though (understatement), as I still have unresolvable sync problems.
Then again, I'm used to reinstalling my PC's and servers at home, and I don't mind minor problems. Your milage may ofcourse vary.

I have experienced the startup problems too. I think it might have something to do with the security app and wifi radio, but am not too sure. And yes, a ROM update would be very nice righta bout now. Come on HP, lets have it!

After my hard-reset the problem came back and I did not install any programs (except Active Sync). I agree with you that there might be a link with the recharging because it happened twice after I disconnected the device (charging). However it is still not clear because I cannot create the problem, it happens 2 or 3 times per week ... I was thinking to bring it back to the shop however this will not help if it is a soft problem.

Even worse I took a backup of my calendar, performed the hard reset a week ago, installed active-sync and restored the calendar, only to find out that the remind-me-alarm of the calendar doesn't work any more. (in the settings the alarm is activated and the time alarm does still work). Help.

Hi
This problem has now appeared on my 2750 as well. I have had the iPaq for a month - in general very pleased with it. Installed a 1Gb SD card yesterday and now...on two occasions in the last 24 hours it won't turn on without a soft reset. This is irritating me big time. Was nowhere near a charging device on first occasion, it was in the cradle on the second. Did anyone ever get a sniff at what is causing this problem?

I notice my BIOS is 1.00.09 ENG - is there a later version?

Still, it's Friday and there is snow on the way here in York.

Kind regards
Jonathan
