hx2750 or axim x50v?
Hi
I'm considering selling my h5555 and getting either a hx2750 or an axim x50v, Obviously there are pro's and con's to both devices, The biggest gripe with my current h5555 is the screen lag, menus are slow even after registy tweaks and overclocking (530Mhz!!!!).

I guess what I really want to know is why hx2750 owners chose their device over the axim, there at a similar price point and I have compared the features of both and cant decide which to go for.

How does the hx2750 pan out in the real world?

I personally think its a great device, but want to check there are no major drawbacks that dont appear on the spec sheet

thanks

Hi rob61280. The biggest difference is that the Axim x50v has a VGA screen, but the 2750 has 128mb RAM. They have the same processor so it would seem you would need to decide on which is more important - more RAM or VGA. There are as many happy Axim owners as iPaq owners (and as many unhappy ones too). Maybe you should check out the aximsite.com (a great site) for feelers on how they like their x50v's. I don't think the 2750 has been around for as long so it may be harder to get feedback on actual user's opinions. Gook luck with your choice.

As much as I like my X50v I think you will be disappointed in the screen lag, I don't think it is to bad but if you notice lag on your 5555 you will notice it for sure on any VGA PPC. Never used a 2750 myself but everything I have read so far says it is the fastest out right now.

VGA is so nice......

thanks allklrnoflr, I wish I could test the units side by side but there very little chance of that in the uk.

Hi rob61280

Something else you might like to consider is the fact that the HX2750 comes with biometric fingerprint scanner, and encryption with all the popular hashing schemes.

I have had mine for a few weeks now, and I am extremely impressed with the menu and application speed, stability, bluetooth and wireless.

A definate thumbs-up, and I will recommend this beauty to anyone.

Current x50v owner --> hx2750
I'm a current x50v owner who is now moving bakc to HP, particularly the hx2750. I've had 2 x50v's both with their share of problems and going back to HP where I've had just about every device they made and NEVER a problem. Got tired of the x50v's battery life, wifi & bluetooth issues. Just orderd my hx2750 from MobilePlanet and should have it inhand on Tuesday

hi acollet
did you find the battery life that short that the axim was unusable? (i.e. the battery would be flat before the end of the day?). The battery life is one of my concerns with the dell, I've got to wait to april to get a new pda but the info you guys have provided has been great.

Thanks
Rob

I can easily get through a day with my X50v on the standard battery. An average day might consist of browsing on wi-fi for 10min, playing a game for 10-15, and PIM/reading AvantGo for may 10-25. Kinda depends on the day, but most of the time I have at least half full on the battery by the end of the day. I also have the CPU set to "Auto", which changes when more or less power is needed.

If you use WIFI alot you should really think about getting an extended battery on the X50v. If I am in the office at work and using WIFI I usually get all the way down to 30% by the time I get home. Last weekend I had to charge it twice it one day.

I love my hx2750. It it extremely fast, and the 128MB of RAM is a huge asset. The poor battery life of the x50v ruled the device out for me. Good luck with your purchase.

hx2750 or Axim x50v
Hello. I was in your same shoes last week, so thought I would offer some advice from the research I have done. I will premise this by saying that I am in no means an expert in PDAs. I just received my hx4700 today.

When comparing the products online looking at specs, the hx2750 appears to be the clear winner. It has more memory than any of the others. If security is a big issue, then the fingerprint reader on the hx2750 is really nice. The reviews say that the hx2000 series is bulky, but the hx2750 model is thinner than the hx2410. I didn't find the 2750 to be bulky at all. The screen is nice, though not as sweet as the VGA on the hx4700. The hx2750 does not have the best battery life, but it is ok.
I have not seen the Dell Axim in person. I did not end up choosing the dell because their customer service sucks. I will never buy a dell product again due to past experiences. Someone else who is not biased against dell should talk to you about it.
I was set on the hx2750 before I went into a local retailer. I just thought I would get a feel for the products before deciding for certain. Once I looked at the hx4700, I could not put it down! The screen is INCREDIBLE! It is so crystal clear. I also found the touchpad to be very cool. Some people have said they have difficulty controlling the movements with the touchpad....but so far I like it. I had no issues using it at the store. I will have to let you know how I feel in about a week The memory isn;t as large on the hx4700, but it is sufficient for my needs. The battery life on the hx4700 is also rated to be awesome...which was also really important to me as I often forget to charge. I thought I might have an issue with the size of the 4700, but it actually is the perfect size for me.
I would recommend that you try to compare all of the products in person. That really helped me decide. Have you thought at all about the 4700? I hoped this helped.

If you got the extended battery check out the new case by Piel Frama since it is made to be used with the battery.
