welcome to this superb website and forum.
Assume you are in Amsterdam or just netherland, can you not return this in Germany? Then go and get one in Paris, you might find a good deal there.
For the new hx2xxx, I'm not sure whether you have the newest update utility available on the net.
If you can't return the unit, but you could get hold of a French ROM, you might be able to do it. Search "language" or "change language" on this forum, you should be able to find some very good instructions for other units, but the logic should be the same.
