H2210 side pieces
My side pieces on my 2210 keep falling off and I remember seeing something on here some time ago about that issue. It was either a way to fix it or about getting new ones. Can someone help.
Also what GPS would you recommend. I think I want one that plugs into the CF slot but open to suggestions.
Thanks

You can get either free replacements from Hp... if you are still under warranty... or you can buy the originals from IpaqParts.com...

http://ipaqparts.com/ipaqparts2200.htm

You can get one piece molded plastic ones that are suppose to be better...

http://www.kungs-global.com/

Or you can get the expensive metal ones from PPCTechs...

As far as GPS... CF Cards are ok... but they require power to use them and since they do not have their own power source they draw power from the PocketPC's battery. I personally like the idea of a BT unit... I have a Pharos that has its own power supply.

You might also try ebay for side grips. They are available there occasionally for less than the above sites.

Another disadvantage to the CF GPS, besides the power issue mentioned above, is that it occupies a valuable storage slot for the space hungry maps you will want to use with your GPS. Also you will sacrifice some flexibility in placement of your GPS Receiver, for optimum signal acquisition, relative to the placement of your PDA. You may have to place your PDA at an inconvenient location to receive a satisfactory satellite signal, when the antenna and PDA are physically attached to each other.

I also recommend BT GPS, if that is an option for you.

I would highly recommend a Blue Tooth GPS, save the slot for expansion memory (you'll need it for the maps). I have a 1GB IBM Microdrive and a 512MB SD card with my unit. I use the IPaq BT GPS unit...works very well, just get better mapping software than what comes with it. Also, on the issue of the side grips, I have the metal ones from Pocket PCTechs and I think they are great. I got the blue ones. The company shipped them promptly, were very courteous, and they make a quality product (they fit perfect and look great). HP will send you replacement rubber grips, but you know the problem will surface again, it's just a matter of time.
