iPaq 2415?
Hi.. this is my first post. I just purchased an iPaq 2415. I have had other pdas...and this was an upgrade for me. I hope I selected a good model. Does anyone have experience with it? It isn't mentioned anywhere on this site that I can find. Thank you.

Hello Nancy,
Congrats on your new purchase. This particular line of iPaq's is still fairly new, so it will be more difficult to find like users. But you have come to the right place, there are many helpful people here.
Indeed you have selected a good model, I have the 2715, but the two are fairly similar. I have had a great time with mine, and hope you do as well.

Hi, Nancy.

I'm just home from buying my 2415 and it's currently charging. I have high hopes for this device, as its an upgrade for me, too. I've owned about a dozen different palm and ppc devices, most recently an iPAQ 1945.

I'll be glad to share my experiences with this gadget as I move along, and hope you'll do the same. First impressions out of the box - I like the rubbery side panels and the matte powder finish on the rest of the body. So much for the cosmetics. Can't wait to see how this little processor sings!

Nancy,
Just ordered my 2415 yesterday. I too am anxious to see how this works out. Keep us updated on things are going with you. By the way, the 2410 & 2415 are the exact same model just different numbers so HP can keep track of who is selling the unit. The 2110 and 2750 are the same base unit but w/different features.

Thanks for your replies. After about a week, so far so good. I had to reset one time...I was reading about another iPaq that was having a little problem with that. The battery life is a big surprise to me, after my last iPaq. It runs for quite a long time. I am an RN and I am looking forward to buying some medical/nursing software for mine. I have had no problem connecting with the wireless network in my house. I need to find out how to use it for the internet outside of my house. Thanks again for your replies.

Ipaq 2415
Nancy,

I wish I could give you a better recommendation - I have owned a 2415 for about 6 weeks and I have had only one problem - but it is a big one. My Ipaq requires a complete hard-reset on a periodic bais - this is to say it decided it does not remember anything that I have put into it about once a week. I have to re-load all the software, all the active-sync and all data about once a week.

I called HP they had me send it in, I did and they said they fixed it, but when it arrived back it was not fixed. I am still working on this . .

Mike, That is a big problem. Sorry to hear your story. Keep us posted on customer service from HP...hopefully, they will get to the bottom of it or replace your unit.

I appreciate your response. Good luck, Mike.

Mike,

It could be software related. Most problems I encountered were solved by uninstalling one program or another. What software do you use?

Otherwise, your iPAQ is broken for sure. I've been using the 2750 for over 2 months, and reinstalled only once. And that one was mostly caused by myself.

There are some problems with the pda series for sure, but most of them have a work around. Having to reinstall every week or so is not normal. That would make it useless to me.

Happy hunting,

Nancy or anyone else for that matter, I just got my 2415 and noticed the screen on moves when you touch it with the stylus. You can actually compress it down ever so slightly. Almost like there is a screen protector on it (another layer if you will). Has anyone run across anything like this?

I have had my 2750 for 2 days and I have had to hard reset at least 2x. Last night was very strange as I was using ipaq backup to make a full backup. I had set ipaq backup to save the image on the file store. Apparently when the backup had finished and tried to soft reset it couldn't and got stuck at the splash screen. I have since change ipaq backup to write to my SD storage.

The other hard reset was caused after I installed Decuma Onspot. Perhaps it caused a conflict as when I did a soft reset, I was once again stuck at the splash screen.

You said that you were suprised at the battery life of the 2415... Just what is the average battery life? (That is, with load, with wifi, with bluetooth.)

Sorry, I've been unable to find any information on that anywhere and I am planning to buy one tomorrow.

I just got a 2415 too. I have used it for a few days now. I had a 2210 before and the 2415 is better in a few areas and not in others. Im in Iraq rightnow and havent tried the wifi but the bluetooth seems to work ok. I would love to hear how its working for others I dont know what to think of 2003 SE. I havent found alot of software that works well on it yet. The spell checker in Word is a nice add on. I have fewer problems with the 2210. The 2210 runs faster to? Im sure a ROM update will be in order soon for the 2415. I have had to softreset the 2415 about one a day. The screen isnt much better then the 2210 but the landscape mode is great. Im a newbee to pocket pcs but the 2415 looks to have its better days in the future. There isnt much out there on the 2415 yet. The forums on this site seems to be the best source for info on the 2415 rightnow.

I have had my 2415 for about a month. I have not had to do any hard resets yet. Only a few soft resets..... Mine seems to run great! Its a great model that has replaced my old 2210. I really do love this one as well as i did the old one.

Just a little update here. I had problems with the speed and reponse of my 2415. I installed SKTools on it and it worked wonders for the start up and sure help me understand how Windows 2003 SE works.

Battery life? I have found the 2415 with a CF card doesnt last very long. My old 2210 lasted longer. Now it didnt have wifi and has a slower cpu.
