keeps turning itself on !?
Any ideas please, it's a 2410, with a PXA270

It's just turning on and staying lit.
I have the HP ProtectTools running, so it boots up to the pin entry screen.

I just hit the off button again and it goes back to sleep for a while.

I've tried a soft reset but that didn't work.

You may want to check your settings in ActiveSync and any other Today plug-ins (RSS newsreaders, weather programs etc...) that you have installed as they will wake-up the unit to check for updates or new information.

I have this problem too, I never figured the problem
As a result, I turned it off for now. Still waiting for that WM5 CD first, then I'll return it to HP and demand an explanation for it
It's either you return it or you create a program using C# in VS.NET2003 for extra security.

ProtectTools will turn your Ipaq on now and again - it's a known fault.

However, what settings have you got in your Power settings? You need to check the settings On battery Power - I have set this to turn off after 1 min if unused.

This may be a dumb response, but did you disable your buttons in the Settings/buttons? That protective cover is great for preventing pressing the 4 main app buttons but not the record button.

The mysterious power ups are a common problem with the latest Ipaqs. HP will want you to send it in for diagnostics. Never found a fix.

Next you'll begin recieving the mysterious error -100 message.

I tried some settings changes that were suggested on this site but in another forum. Don't remember where. Anyway, the setting change has to do with ActiveSync and it seems to have fixed the problem.
With the iPAQ NOT connected to PC, open Activesync on the PPC. Go to Options and open the PC tab. Deselect the "Use mobile schedule to sync with this PC". Then, go to Mobile Schedule tab and make sure both setting there are set to "Manual". Of course some of you may need those set for something other than manual. But, doing so did seem to fix my unit from turning itself on.

Here's an update from my last post. I've been adding features to my 2750 as I correct any errors that way I know what the culprit is. Anyway, doing what I said in my last post did correct the problem where the unit would turn on by itself.
My latest addition was to enable Protect Tools to safeguard my data from snooping. What happens now is that after the timeout I have the tools set to logoff and shutdown programs, the unit will turn on to the password entry screen. From there, if I simply press the power button to turn it back off, it will then stay off. But, I don't think it should be turning on to begin with. I wonder if anyone knows if HP has a fix for this?

Disable the Logoff function. With that disabled the iPAQ will not power back on unless Active Sync has schedules set. Your stuff will still be protected. If someone tries to turn on you iPAQ it will present the password screen. If they softreset it will encript your files. They can't get to your data without a password. The Log Off function serves no purpose other then to turn on your iPAQ after a set period of time asking you to log off.
