hx2750 & Bluetooth Error

A friend dropped off her hx2750 today along with the WM5 upgrade CD. Since her school gave it to her, she's been unable to get bluetooth working so she bought the WM5 upgrade since many said that would fix it.

After I installed the WM5 upgrade, everything else has worked fine but I am still getting "The bluetooth radio failed to turn ON due to insufficient driver memory available. You must perform a normal reset before you can turn ON the bluetooth radio."

I've spent the last 4 hrs googling solutions to this and have tried Hard resets, Soft resets, multiple combos of the two, turning off wifi, turning on wifi, disabled all services, turned off all today screen items, and have installed every update i could find on the hp.com/support page for wm5 and her device.

This is a clean pda with no programs installed at all. Under HP asset viewer/bluetooth it says
Radio Present: yes
Firmaware Version; 2.12
Hardware Revision: 2.12
Driver Version: 1.7.1.200
Software Version: 1.7.1.200
Module Release Date: 2004.06.28

Also now when ever I reset (hard or soft) it tries to turn on the bluetooth, is there any way to stop that?

Any help or solution would be GREATLY appreciated!

It tries to turn on Bluetooth every time you reset it. Does it actually turn it on?

Nope, even without actively attempting to turn it on, it'll give the same Insufficient Memory / Radio can't turn on error msg after about 45 seconds. Hope that explains it better.

Here's a couple of things you could try:

Remove the battery for 30 seconds. This will reset the hardware and perhaps resolve the problem.

Run the Self Test applications - Tap Start > Settings > System tab > Self Test icon.

I tired 30 seconds, 5 mins, and 3 hrs all with the same result. It passes all of the tests, but still gives the same error when trying to start bluetooth.

I'm at a total loss here.

Have you tried a clean reset?

1) Press and hold the Calendar button, the Power button, and the Messaging button.

2) While holding these buttons, use the stylus to lightly press the Reset button on the bottom of the HP iPAQ.

3) When the Pocket PC screen begins to fade, release all of the buttons, and then remove the stylus from the Reset button.

The HP iPAQ restarts and powers on

Given everything you've tried, and assuming a clean reset does not resolve the issue, I think this is a hardware issue that likely needs to be repaired through a repair shop. Pocket PC Techs is highly regarded by many on this and other pocket pc forums:

Pocket PC Techs

To stop the pocket pc from trying to turn on bluetooth every time you soft reset the device, you may need to remove a shortcut from the Startup folder. Look here:

\windows\startup

I just bought a second hand hx2750. I have the exact same problem. Without bluetooth I dont need this product at all...
As we are two with he same problem, I really think it is a software conflict somewhere.
