Is a iPaq hx2755 worth $100

Someone offered me a hx2755 for $100. This sounds like a deal, but I don't know much about the product line. Did it have a lot of problems, or was it rock solid? I currently own a Dell Axim X51v which I plan to keep using. The iPaq will likely be a gift to my brother.

Sounds like a good deal to me. It runs windows mobile 2003se (unless it was upgraded to WM5.0). The WM5.0 upgrades that HP sold didn't work so well, but under windows mobile 2003 it's a pretty solid device.

Thats the one thing that has me questioning whether I want it. The owner says it is upgraded to WM5 and I've read bad things about the update, but on the other hand, I want it to use the native word and excell formats rather than the pocket formats as with WM2003. I think for 100$ its not that big of a deal.

Windows Mobile 2003 devices can read regular .xls and .doc files - they do not have to be converted to the mobile version. The converted files are smaller. I don't convert these files when I use them on my hx2415 which still runs windows mobile 2003se. When I bought my hx2415, it came with a coupon for a free WM5.0 upgrade. I never cashed it in because I read so many negative threads from users who upgraded their pocket pcs.

If the pocket pc has been updated to WM5.0, then I would request the WM5.0 CD. Then you can always downgrade it back to windows mobile 2003 se.

Thanks Julie, I didn't know that about office WM2003. I believe he said that the CD was with it. Hopefully so.
