HP hx2795 storage cards capability
Can anyone tell me what the max. capacity is for the SD and the CF cards?
I mean capacity that can actually be used. HP says it tested up to 2GB for each, but what about 8GB or even 16GB? HP does not want to commit.

I can't comment on an 8 or 16, but a 4 works just fine.

You can use a 4GB SD card - just make sure it's not an SDHC card. Most any CF cards will work. I use an 8GB CF card in my hx2415 with no problems and am thinking about getting a 16GB CF card - they are so cheap now.

What about CF cap. for the Axim X5?
Thanks Julie for your reply. I do not mind either CF or SD. I'm beginning to learn that there are more restrictions with SD than CF.
I still have my old Axim X5 and would not mind continuing using it. Would that old horse accept and read 16GB CF-cards? Using it for my opera wma-files, which require quite a lot of space.

Thanks again!

I haven't seen confirmation that the large CF cards work in the X5, but you could get one and see. NewEgg's got an A-data 16 GB CF card on sale now for about $55.

Thanks Julie! I think that will be the only way out, although it might cost me $55 for nothing! Chatted with Dell for about half an hour and their answer was zilch! Checked every possible forum and still no concrete answer. I also read that some brands work and some don't! Spoke to Rich Hall at Smartphone & PocketPC and asked him to publish on this subject. There is big talk from device manufacturers about expansion possibilities, but none of them gives you the up and up. HP says that their brand new 111 supports up to 2GB, which is peanuts these days.

In addition: I just bought the 16GB card from Newegg and started praying!
I'll let you know when it arrives.

but you have a hx2795 too? If the CF card doesn't work in the x5, you should be able to use it in that one.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that it works in your x5....

I was thinking of buying the hx2795, but also got mixed replies about card storage and HP, like Dell, did not help at all. Then I dug my X5 from under the mothballs, started reading about its capabilities again (Rich Hall wrote a nice book about it!) and thought "what the heck", I try this old workhorse again. Compared it with what is on the market today and came to the conclusion that it would fulfill all my needs, provided it would accept high card capacity. I stumbled upon you (sorry!) and you have been good help. let's pray together and hopefully it helps! Thanks, Julie!
