Big Questions need help

I have an Ipaq 2495, I bought second hand, with all papers but no box
how do I know if it is the b model or not?
what is the difference?
Does it have IR?

Help Please, I used it for about a year then parked it, thinking of bringing it out as a remote but cant find any IR info.

if you remove the battery cover and the battery it should give you the information youre looking for.

this model has built-in ir. you can use software like noviiremote or the like to communicate with ir devices. otherwise you can transmit business cards or data to other ir devices without 3rd party softwares

To find out what model pocket pc you have:

Tap Start > Settings > System tab > HP Asset Viewer icon
Tap System tab > What Model ID is shown?

The "b" model has more RAM memory than the non-b model.

Your pocket pc has IR - the port is on the left side of the top edge next to the headphone socket - you can see a small icon there if you look closely. Forget about using the pocket pc as a remote control for your tv. The IR is not powerful enough and won't work from any kind of distance from the tv - I tried it already. Very few IPAQs have a powerful enough IR signal to support its use as a tv remote controller.
