hx2495 wireless driver disable

I would like to disable the wireless driver for the on board wireless. I have purchased a 54g cf card and am trying to get it to use it instead of the on board. Thanks for the help in advance.

what happens when you disable the built in wifi with the wireless manager?

you should have the functionality of the cf card when the other device is powered down

when I disable the onboard wireless with the wireless utility I see activity but when I look at the ip address it does not have an ip address so I cannot work with any network.

what are you using to look at your network adapters ip addresses? if you use the built in wireless utility, it most likely wont show any other device information other than that of whats built in.

id try out iper to check that youre pulling an ipaddress, then we can start troubleshooting...

are there any lights coming on on the wireless card? did you check out some of the other threads regarding wifi troubles? make sure in your connection manager, "programs that automatically connect to a network" are set to internet, not work or anything else...

I am using taskmanager 2.9 found on this site for the axim (works great). With the wire less on I can see when I hook up to a 11b and see the netstats and ipconfig and see both drivers listed.

Windows IP Configuration

Ethernet adapter amwl54g1(AMWL54G1):

Connection-specific
DNS Suffix: none
IP Address: 0.0.0.0
Subnet Mask: 0.0.0.0
Default Gateway: none

Ethernet adapter SWLD23N1(AMWL54G1):

Connection-specific
DNS Suffix: none
IP Address: 0.0.0.0
Subnet Mask: 0.0.0.0
Default Gateway: none

I also exported my comm reg key to help.

I understand a little bit about the registry and how to look on windows for drivers or programs but not these. I havent played with them enough. I tried removing one set of keys and had to reload my I paq, (getting good at that). Again thanks.

jebus!

i dont think youll be needing to edit the registry for this one...

do any networks show up in your wlan connection utility? if they do, can you connect to a b/g or b network with security disabled? if you can connect with security disabled, try setting up wep, then wpa with tkip.

thanks! and no need to post all that info. the driver information helps, but all that other stuff is extraneous :)

cf card ambicom

I did some playing and found if i leave the internal wireless disabled I can use the external card. I also found that I can stop the external card by turning on the flight mode. I also redirected the internal driver reference to the external driver hklm\com\swld23n\linkage route amwl54g1

it uses the external card for access then.

thanks for the help.

now if I could only use wpa2.
