I hate to tell you this but I think you're running into the same problems with your 2795b that I was with the 2495b. I had mine for a year and finally replaced it a month or two ago.
The problems with it were, I think, not so much hardware-related as they were with WM5. There didn't seem to be anything major wrong with it - I thought that, perhaps, my mix of applications was an issue. The main problems I was experiencing:
1) Synchronization - often (but not always) I had to soft-boot the device to get synchronization to work.
2) Random crashes: Sometimes the machine, sitting in my bag, would randomly crash. I would sometimes pull the thing out and find that I couldn't power it on. After a soft-reset I'd discover the battery nearly drained and had to recharge it.
3) Responsiveness: It seemed that over time the machine became less and less responsive to the "power" switch. After a soft reset it would come on rather quickly when I hit the power button but then over a period of a day or so it would take longer and longer to come on. Sometimes I had to hit the power button multiple times to get the machine to "notice" it. Very annoying.
It's really too bad, too - because I liked the machine. It was probably the most solidly built PPC I've owned to-date. Decent screen - GREAT sound quality for playing MP3's - you could blow your ears out at half-volume. However it simply got to the point where I was spending as much time micromanaging the thing as I was actually using it!
I replaced it with a HP111 Classic and have had ZERO problems with it since. I thought I was going nuts with that other one. I'm using the exact same mix of applications on the 111 with no issues at all. The only thing about the 111 is the video system seems a bit slow and WM6 seems to use more memory than WM5 did - but only marginally so; not enough to be a problem.
