Issues with WM 5.0

I am running my HP Hx 2795b with Os 5.1.1702 (build 14366.1.0.1)
I have
1. Issues synching to Vista Home Premium through Windows Mobil I hav in the past 2 months had to do 2 Factory Resets in order to clear up issues with Outlook and Outlook 2003.
2. Issues synching with inconsistent recognition either not at all or only seeing the divice and not synching.
3. Issues with divice freezing and having to reset
4. I cannot update rom

any suggestions I love this divice but I am at wits end with issues

I hate to tell you this but I think you're running into the same problems with your 2795b that I was with the 2495b. I had mine for a year and finally replaced it a month or two ago.

The problems with it were, I think, not so much hardware-related as they were with WM5. There didn't seem to be anything major wrong with it - I thought that, perhaps, my mix of applications was an issue. The main problems I was experiencing:

1) Synchronization - often (but not always) I had to soft-boot the device to get synchronization to work.
2) Random crashes: Sometimes the machine, sitting in my bag, would randomly crash. I would sometimes pull the thing out and find that I couldn't power it on. After a soft-reset I'd discover the battery nearly drained and had to recharge it.
3) Responsiveness: It seemed that over time the machine became less and less responsive to the "power" switch. After a soft reset it would come on rather quickly when I hit the power button but then over a period of a day or so it would take longer and longer to come on. Sometimes I had to hit the power button multiple times to get the machine to "notice" it. Very annoying.

It's really too bad, too - because I liked the machine. It was probably the most solidly built PPC I've owned to-date. Decent screen - GREAT sound quality for playing MP3's - you could blow your ears out at half-volume. However it simply got to the point where I was spending as much time micromanaging the thing as I was actually using it!

I replaced it with a HP111 Classic and have had ZERO problems with it since. I thought I was going nuts with that other one. I'm using the exact same mix of applications on the 111 with no issues at all. The only thing about the 111 is the video system seems a bit slow and WM6 seems to use more memory than WM5 did - but only marginally so; not enough to be a problem.

Thank you CodeBubba I am really tempted to buy WM 6 for it and see if that takes care of the issues every time I try to use patch 33003 from HP it tells me I don't have the right ROM for it so I can't even do that. Like you I love my HX and I do not want to switch out of it but if I can't find a solution for the issues I will have to I am leaning more toward the 211 as I like having the use of both CF and SD cards. There is a WM 6 for it but it is not HP and I am not sure of the support for it I have also seen HX 2795b's with WM6 preinstalled. I am also leaning a little to the dark side. I confess I have been flirting with the idea of a 17" Ibook and Iphone.

Boy ... Ibook and Iphone - you really are going to the dark side!

Economically speaking I just couldn't make such a move myself. I've been developing code on PC's since the things were invented and ALL my technology (including all my devices) are Windows-based. I suppose at some point I might consider and iPhone - but everything Windows just works together too well.

Still ... if you do go to the "dark side" we won't run you off!

If you want to install SP33003, you need to install it from an XP computer. The update probably won't run from a Vista computer and could brick the device.

If you are seriously considering installing a WM6.0 OS to it, why purchase it? Just go to XDA and get it there... Since the update is a hacked version of WM6.0, you won't get any support for it from HP or Microsoft, but you might from XDA since the hackers hang out there. There is no way I would purchase this hacked ROM from anyone because it seems to me the person selling it would simply be an opportunist who took a ROM from XDA and probably don't know anything about it and probably won't be able or willing to answer any support-related questions you might have. You'd stand a better chance of support from XDA.

Well I did it. I changed over to the HTC Ozone and after 2 months I haven't looked back now and I sold my Ipaq and my GzOne boulder reminds me need to change my profile. Julie ty for all your help. I do miss the touch screen and the screen is smaller. I have had no BT or Wifi issues and I love the BT synch. Open a tread soon.
